Mid Jan update on Ronin and Autumn

On Tuesday Sean and I investigated a new daycare for Ronin. We are currently at Bright Horizons (which is great) but costs $1700/month for full time care and is 45 minutes south. And as our finances have changed we need to tighten our budget a tad. We found a new daycare that is 10-15 minutes in BREWSTER and we were very pleased at the level of care. It will also cost about $1000/month. Ronin at age 2 is a vibrant and fun child. He has self confidence - his new expression is "I did it!" and adapts well (we hope!) We bought him to the new daycare and he walked right in - took off his coat - and started playing with the big yellow bus. Another kid siddled up to him and he took no notice and continued to play. Sean and I and my mother and Celina have given him the tools he needs (at 2) to be able to feel good about himself and this can only lead furthering his healthy development. I may want to give my kid the Scarsdale education I had but I have live in reality and Brewster and the "Scarsdale of daycare" is beyond our means at this time. But the Brewster one is pretty damn good as well. If it was only Jewish!

Now on to my Autumn. My precious sweetness and G-d gave to ME. I woke her about 45 monutes before we left and she only got in 2 oz. When I packed her into her carseat she cried and I knew she wanted more food. I had intended on giving her a bottle at the Daycare while Ronin and Sean played and I spoke to the administrators. But she never fussed or stirred once. She let me do what I needed to do for Ronin and was the perfect baby EVER. As soon as we got home I prepared a bottle before she stirred as I knew once she knew she was home - she would wail for food. Autumn had her 2 month well baby visit on Thursday. She is doing great - is 11.9 lbs (70%) and 23-1/2 inches (75%). She is strong and beautiful and sweet. But when she is AWAKE and wants attention - all else stops and focuses on her!

Ronin milestone

Ronin climbed out of his crib today with such stealth that neither Sean nor I heard it. We had prepared for this eventuality by placing two large blankets around his crib. He is not quite ready for a toddler bed so the next month should be interesting.

Ladies Home Journal

My quest for 2008 is to be in shape. To shape up my finances, to shape up my family and to shape up my life. When I went to pick up the mail that I had let accumulate for a few days I came across a Ladies Home Journal mailed to me. Ladies Home Journal? When did I hit that demographic? As I have been exisiting for the past 7 weeks on a diet of Sex in the City at early am bottle feedings I am uniquely aware of my feminine status. So is turning 34 in two weeks changed my age box? Is the box now 34-40 and I have now entered a new stage? In the same pile of mail was a 10% coupon to my hair salon. That is so expensive that my mom is treating me to a hair cut and color for my birthday. Ladies Home Journal my post-preggo as! I'm off to the salon on Wednesday.
