The weekend was a weekend of first for the Gillhoolley’s.
On Friday June 20, 2008:
Autumn 3rd tooth presented itself on the upper right hand side. She also smacked her lips when I kissed her and we played kissy all weekend long. She giggles when she kisses because I think she loves the back and forth interaction.
On Saturday June 21, 2008:
Ronin got his first freckle on his left hand. He also told us that “Ronin not a monkey!” And “I said NO!”
On Sunday June 22, 2008:
Autumn sat unassisted for more than 10 seconds, she rolled back and forth effortlessly and around 6pm got up on all fours for the first time in preparation to crawl. She then proceeded to flop over and roll out of the crawl while smiling.
On Monday June 23, 2008:
Autumn said “mamammamam” for the first time.

Ronin's Hernia Operation
He was good when we got there. Said "Ronin seeing doctor today at hospital" and was good until the scheduled time. Then there was a delay as the OR was too warm. Then he started running around the recovery room - huge room - big circle - and Sean was chasing him around. He kept saying "I'm running!" The nurses thought he was adorable and we tried to keep him occupied w/ trains and movies. When he saw Sean in scrubs he lost it completely. He told Sean to "take off clothes - no like - NOT nice!" Sean carried him into the OR and held him as he was sedated. Which took like 3 minutes as when a child cries the anesthesia is inhaled faster. They said the surgery takes 8 minutes and we should see in 45minutes. Longer if he wakes peacefully and then goes right to sleep but IMMEDIETELY if he wakes up thrashing - which is typical as kids do not understand why they feel weird and are confused and the body was a weird reaction to anesthesia. I heard a baby cry MOMMY and not a moment later the nurses were coming to get us. We ran to Ronin and Sean jumped into a chair to hold and soothe him until he fell back asleep (which is what you want as that helps the drugs dissipate in his little body.) I gave him a sous and he fell asleep. He woke up an hour later and we took him home. He threw up in the car a few times (apple juice) as his tummy was sensitive. But once he was home again and we were all there – he was much happier. This morning, he is tired and sore and we are keeping him medicated on Motrin and Tylenol. Sean is with him today. Mom or I will have him tomorrow and same on Thursday and Sean on Friday. He is about 50% Ronin now and is "itchy" but when we left the hospital he said "Goodbye Doctor. See you later!" He is precious! Truly. Thank G-d it is today and not yesterday.

Jam packed Weekend
Saturday
While Ronin’s Godmom, Nikki took Candi to see Sex and The City Sean watched the kids – as a belated mom’s day gift. It was awesome and inspired and appreciated (the gift AND the movie!) When we returned and woke up the kids we prepared a BBQ feast for Nikki and the family. Ronin enjoyed his corn on the cob and chicken and KETCHUP (that would be Sean’s doing) and he loved the new trains that Nikki bought him. It was the first time Ronin has even shown shyness but within a moment’s time he was loving on Nikki and loving the new TRAINS!! When it was time for her to go home Sean scooped him up and brought her to the train station and was very happy that she got to be on a train – which can be a major event for Ronin.
Sunday
We took a family trip to the Bronx Zoo. This was the first time I have been to Zoo since I was pregnant with Autumn. The walking was quite difficult and S.L.O.W but I did it! We walked for at least two hours and Ronin said he wanted to see monkeys and lions. We also saw seals, bison, baboons, butterflies, deer, a bear (on top of a rock which was cool,) chipmunks, and peacocks. We had just hit the African exhibit to see the giraffes (at Ronin’s request) but then he wanted to get FOOD (hot dog) and head back home as he was tired and Autumn was exhausted. After his nap he played some more with his trains and Sean and Ronin watched all kinds of great trains on Utube.
It was a great weekend, filled with laughter and fun and Sean and I are thoroughly exhausted but great parents! Which I now understand makes my life complete.
