Conversations with Ronin 6YO

Ronin: "I do not like that you have a boss at work. He makes you tense."
Me: "Yes. that is true."
Ronin: "What does it take to be a boss? So I can be one and not be tense and make the rules."
Me: "A great idea and/or some money."
Ronin: "I am filled with great ideas mommy. I need to work on the money."
Me: "I have no concern when it comes to you kid. You'll be the boss. You'll make yourself the boss."

Autumn playing with me tonight with her fairies

Autumn  4YO: I'm a girl from Montreal. A place where you can make sand castles in the sky. There are slides and swings and bicycles that go very vroomy fast.  Sometimes on the island it rains. There is snow. Not now. Ballerina are princesses and I live there. I wear sparkle shoes and pink dresses and everyone loves my hair. They want to touch it like the fairies do.

Ronin is a Nature-Lover

Ronin (6YO) came home yesterday with this story: " I am not a nature-killer. There was a butterfly that we were chasing at recess. Someone hurt the butterfly. Its not important who, Mama. Wasn't me. I'm not taddling. I told everyone Butterflies are beautiful sweet nature. They do not bite or make messes. But now the wing was broken and now we had to kill the butterfly to show compassion. I explained compassion to evetyone, Mama. A true nature lover knows how to see the difference in senseless killing like the Buffalos and the Americans and us helping the butterfly on its way to a more peaceful place. (FYI He saw Dances with Wolves a few months back.)

Autumn updates

Easter 2012: Autumn standing in front of a tree yesterday in tears prepping for a picture, "Mama, its your fault I hurt my head on the tree." Note: I am 20 feet away from her the entire time.

Now she says "Mommy tries her best" and defends me if Ronin is being difficult.

March 2012: Taught Autumn to ride a bike with trainning wheels.

Got my cardio chasing Autumn on bike. Now the kids are eating chicken & bowls of spaghetti. #contentpantingmama

Autumn 4YO "What did you have as a nightmare when you were a little girl Mama?" I did not want to tell her because I did not want to give her any ideas.

Ronin is 6 YO

Ronin's dinner: Roasted chicken, potatoes, carrots, apple, tangerine, kiwi, and now he wants some meatballs I made for tomorrow dinner. Oh and he's thin. Love the #notmygenes

We went to a party at that JCC and he managed to put on the shower and get soaking wet during the middle of the party.

Ronin and I made Tzatziki and Chocolate Chip cookies.

1st day of Kindergarten August 31, 2011

I need to write about this day. He slept in till 7am. He never does that. He ate a cream cheese sandwich, a banana, and a bowl of cereal. He drank Strawberry lemonade. He wore a blue shirt and a vest. “James Bond wears vests mommy. I want to look sharp!” He wore his new sneakers. He loved his Toy Story backpack and lunchbox. I packed him 2 cheeses, a fruit bar, 2 juices, and an apple. He was only going for a half-day - no lunch. He put on a green baseball hat before he left. “My look is complete,” he said. He ran to the car. He couldn’t wait to get started. We went into the courtyard with all the other parents. The kids tossed their bags on the ground and went to play in the playground. Three teachers held up signs. I saw the one I wanted. She’s short, juicy, and typically French. She has big boobs as well and a melodic laugh. She just screams Kindergarten teacher to me. She is Ronin teacher. Her name is Madame Constantine. She has a name that has a sound that is not even in the English language.

Ronin’s name was called and he ran right towards her.

“After you left mommy, Madame said it was free play and I went back to the castle. After playing we all got our lunchboxes and had snack. Good choices today mama. I ate everything. Tout! Then we sat in a learning circle and learned about safety. Then Madame read us a story. Then she let me play with an iPad. We have four in the class. We talked about safety again and that we do not want to drop the technology. I made four friends. I know you said that I did not have to make any friends the first day but I did.”
